{Be Featured} Meredith Sledge Photography

Hi there! Megan Kelsey here. It’s my first {Be Featured} post for Delight & Be’s new blog, and I am SO EXCITED to introduce you to an amazing photographer and incredible friend of mine, Meredith Sledge. Every Saturday we’ll be featuring industry creatives and a few of our own talented Delight girls. We’ll be showcasing their work and talking about God, life, adventures, and dreaming big dreams. Meredith is our very first feature on the new blog and rightly so! She’s a Delight girl who is also an incredibly talented portrait and wedding photographer and established blogger and Instagram adventurer. (Okay, I kind of made that last one up, but she DOES have really cool Instagram posts.) So without further ado… meet Meredith!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi!! My name is Meredith and I live in Waynesboro, VA in a valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains!! I absolutely adore traveling and I would probably visit a new place every week if I could but when I’m home, I realize how blessed I am to live in a small city full of so many nice people that I’ve known my whole life! I usually can’t go to Starbucks or the doctor’s office without seeing someone I know. I also own a wedding photography business and I sometimes have to remind myself that it’s not a dream! When I graduated high school, owning my own photography business was a bit of a pipe dream but I quickly found out after I moved into my college dorm and started classes that there was no way I was leaving my camera behind. I came home from school to pursue my business full time and since then, I’ve been photographing awesome couples and I pray God is using me to inspire others and shine His light. When I’m not taking pictures, I love to journal, laugh with my friends, and drink coffee. Lots of coffee!!

Where is home?

Waynesboro, VA! I’ve lived here for almost 21 years!

If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be?

If I could choose someone who has passed, I’d probably choose Corrie Ten Boom! I read the Hiding Place last year and was inspired and touched and brought closer to the Lord! She is one amazing lady!

What are five words friends would use to describe you?

Wise, quiet, listener, caring, creative

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

What a good question! I hope to be traveling the world shooting destination weddings and I hope to at least have a boyfriend. ☺ But most of all I hope to be happy and closer in my walk with Jesus.

How long have you been doing photography?

I’ve been shooting full time for about two years but I got my first SLR in 2009 I believe.

What type of photography do you specialize in?

Weddings and portraits

Did you go to school for photography?

Nope! Just watched a lot of Creative Live, YouTube videos, and read tons of educational blogs!

What advice would you give your 15-year-old self?

I was going through a lot as a 15-year-old. I think I would have told myself to be slower to speak and to stop being afraid.

How does your relationship with God affect the way you do business?

It affects everything. I give God every bit of credit in my business. I am 100% sure I would not be doing what I’m doing without Him. Before every shoot and wedding, I pray that he walks with me and allows me to show my clients and my guests that there’s something different about me. I pray that he guides my every move and that he speaks through me. I pray that he keeps me humble and allows me to use the gift for HIS glory, not mine

What is your favorite verse?

You know what? I love the verse that inspired the name of Delight! “Delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

How would you describe your style?

Classic, crisp, romantic

Who or what is the greatest love of your life?

Ultimately God but earthly and materialistically, my mom and photography ☺

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Definitely my mom! She has taught me how to Love Jesus above anything else and not only how to love Him but how to follow Him, trust Him, and allow Him to mold me.

If you could shoot with another photographer, who would it be?

This is the hardest question!! Maybe Lara Jade, KT Merry, or Amanda Holloway!! If it’s a videographer, definitely Iris & Light

Where do you find your inspiration?

I’ve just discovered that my inspiration comes when I am away from social media and can believe in myself and my work rather than having my mind flooded with everyone else’s images! But most of all I am inspired by beautiful places!

If you could choose one person to photograph, who would it be?

I’d love to photograph someone who has never been photographed before! I know that’s not specific but that’s on my bucket list.
